In 2015 Thomas Amanou traveled to India and got inspired by its vibrant culture. The idea- to make a comfortable version of his favorite shoe, the espadrille. He came home to Miami on a mission to create this revolutionary shoe, and in 2017 Nalho yoga mat sandals were born.

Officially launched and introduced to the market later that year, Nalho sandals have become popular with fashionistas and yogis alike who love their beauty and stylish comfort.


Miami Swim Week- 2017. A small company decides to test the waters with their new brand of footwear, selling them as accessories to bikinis and cover-ups. The Nalho booth was buzzing, and the feedback was all positive. Fast forward one year from that exciting first show, and the company has grown exponentially and is now in over 300 stores in the U.S., featured on over 50 websites, and currently bursting onto the scene internationally. Women in Europe, Canada, the Middle East and the Caribbean are all discovering the beautiful, comfortable, Nalho sandal.


Nalho is a special brand. As such, it needed a special name, but it had to be something unique, like the product itself. Well, as the saying goes, sometimes when you are not looking for something, is when you actually find it….Thomas, Nalho’s founder, had a moment of inspiration, and Nalho ‘popped into his head’. Turns out, Nalho means sandals in Hebrew! It also is an African word for loveable. It was perfect! We are so excited to share our ‘loveable sandals’ with you!.
